Watercolour Pencils - Faber Castell Albrecht Durer

Faber-Castell Albrecht Dürer are Venice’s personal favorite coloured pencils because the colours are strong and vibrant.  Unfortunately though they are not particularly budget-friendly. However, don’t worry; we’ve listed all the coloured pencils you need via an Amazon link so if you want to use the same brand as Vennice, you can just purchase the individual colours she used for the classes.

A4 drawing paper for jewellery design and rendering

Drawing paper

For Vennice’s final renderings, she prefers to use heavyweight, good-quality paper or even lightweight cards to achieve perfectly crisp details. However, most often, she draws on paper weighing between 100 and 180 grams.

Round Template

Even if you aren’t naturally skilled at drawing, the round template allows you to easily and accurately transfer your designs onto paper. Any brand of round template will do. However, Vennice’s favorite round template from Timely Templates is currently unavailable on the website. She will provide an update once it’s back.

Mechanical pencil with 0.3mm HB lead

Whenever Vennice is drawing things to present to a client o create a final drawing, she generally uses a 0.3mm mechanical pencil with an HB lead. Using a smaller lead requires a lighter touch to avoid breaking it, which is why she doesn’t generally use it for sketching. However, it does allow for much more detailed drawings.

Set of triangles

Vennice uses two triangles to create guidelines before doing any final renderings. Remember to draw the guidelines as lightly as possible, though. If we draw our guidelines with a heavy hand, they can become almost impossible to remove later.

Regular ruler

You will also need a regular ruler.  You probably already have one of these, but just in case!

Erasers

I generally use two erasers.  One for erasing larger areas and one for smaller areas.  For erasing small details such as guidelines I prefer to use the Mono Zero Eraser from Tombow.

white gouache paint for jewellery design and rendering

Titanium white gouache paint

When rendering the gemstones and bringing them to life, we will use white gouache to draw the highlights. Vennice loves to use white gouache for the highlights because it offers the best pigment to achieve brilliant and vibrant colours that are both smooth and solid.

Paintbrush

The paintbrush she loves to use for creating crisp and clean highlights is size 10/0 or 15/0. It’s a super fine brush with relatively short and firm bristles, perfect for making your drawings pop!

Colour plate

As the white gouache is a very thick paint, we’ll use a colour plate to mix this with a little water.  Honestly, any plate will do for this though, or even an old take out lid!
