The heart of Lucy's teaching methods are based on Albert Einstein's quote on simplicity - "Everything should be as simple as possible, but no simpler."
Learning from the best, through every step of her jewellery career, Lucy feels strongly that her only option is to offer that same level of learning for students of The Academy.
Through a modular series of ever-expanding classes and workshops, The Academy aims to develop jewellers and jewellery designers who are relevant in this age. By concentrating on traditional techniques paired with the latest in jewellery techniques, Lucy intends to ensure that every student of The Academy constantly learns and expands his/her's creativity and expertise in the art of jewellery creation. The ultimate goal of The Academy is to create a circle of some of Malaysia's most creative jewellers.
‘To make fine, but unexpected jewellery, that I hope others will love. Because it is the only thing I can ever imagine doing with my life. And to help, and be helped, by those who wish to learn to do the same."
Lucy Walker, Creative Director – The creative force behind Lucy Walker Jewellery, Lucy Walker, is a British jewellery designer specialising in unique and unusual gemstones together with diamonds and precious metals. Having been in the industry for over 10 years, Lucy has honed her skills throughout the world. She has worked with leading jewellers in the United States of America and Australia and graduated from Birmingham City University, one of the leading jewellery schools in the world, with a first class in Jewellery and Silversmithing - Design for Industry - BA (Hons). She is also a qualified gemmologist certified by the Gemological Institute of America and Gemmological Association of Great Britain.
Now located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia her designs are inspired by her continuous need to travel to explore the world and to experience the varied cultures existing today while learning of ancient ones. Years spent studying gemmology and jewellery design, whilst working at the jeweler’s bench, has allowed Lucy to become intimately familiar with the relationship between gemstones and jewellery. This relationship between gemstones and the piece they ultimately demand to become is the creative force that flows into her work. Some would call it a muse, but for Lucy, it is life.
